Who

Written by Jacob Ibrag

She used to be able to read people. To

see them smile and know why. To figure

out what made them cry. She loved every

part of her job, till she lost every part of

herself. Giving away little pieces to those

that needed it. With time she became the

little boy that felt alone, the girl that just

wanted to find love, the man that thought

he wasn’t enough. Staring at the mirror

by her bed, she couldn’t help wonder

who that was staring right back.

  3. How often I have felt this way without being able to put into words and name it so completely. Fantastically captured! Thank you for sharing!

  5. Once again, I stand impressed. So few words. Still the setting for a whole story is expressed. Amazing, Jacob!

  6. This is beautiful. As Madeleine L’Engle said: “And what I must learn is to love with all of me, giving all of me, and yet remain whole in myself. Any other kind of love is too demanding of the other; it takes, rather than gives. To so completely that you lose yourself in another person is not good. You are giving a weight, not the sense of lightness and light that loving someone should give. To love wholly, generously, and yet retain the core that makes you you.” This is essentially the same, yet in such a condensed form, which takes skill!

  8. That is exactly why people who have the tendency to empathize too much with others have it hard as a therapist or a counselor, because they get too emotionally involved into their clients’ personal problems and become too trapped to get out…

  9. Wow. This was incredible. So true. We just get caught up so much in the lives of others, until we get lost and lose our own sense of self. That’s beautifully put. Thanks, Jacob.
