I wonder what
happens to our thoughts
when our bodies let go. What if
they get transferred to another version
of our selves in a parallel universe? Maybe
that’s what we’re experiencing when
we’re dreaming, glimpses of our
failed counterparts and what
they were thinking.
Sounds like the plot for a science fiction. I like it!

This thoroughly makes me think of the Zero Escape series. 999, Virtues Last Reward, and most recently Zero Time Dilemma all deal with that very thing!
It is absolutely riveting too! If you ever get the chance (assuming you haven’t already) to play these three games, it is a brilliant trilogy!
Anyways, wonderful poem.
Cheers! ^_^

What a thought, but this stuff needs lot more thinking and time. You finished it sooner.
But I loved your imagination, and I am wondering if this is true in any ways, then upon the varieties of dream that I have, I wonder the number of life my soul has lived up to now and experiences it has gone through.

Your poem is incredibly thought-provoking, and as an aspiring philosophy student I have studied life after death and dreams quite thoroughly, but your interpretation has offered an intriguing perspective that I haven’t come across before – so thank you! I love the form you’ve adopted as well, it’s really innovative 🙂

I always think about this! That feeling too, when you meet someone for the first time but recognise them, when a place you visit for the first time seems familiar, when you can’t quite recall if a fragment is a dream or a real memory; are we all existing on several planes at once?
Keep up the good work!

Why failed? I was fascinated as a child wonderung what would hapoen to my mind when I died. I couldn’t imagine not being. I somehow knew that the essential mecwould live and i wondered what or who I would look … or would my thoughts just wander around “lonely as a cloud” without a form to attach to.

‘Failed’ here doesn’t necessarily serve its traditional meaning. In this piece, it means those that have passed on from their physical counterpart.
