That

Written by Jacob Ibrag

‘If he makes you feel

like you’re the only other soul

in his world, then go for it. Just know

that I can’t ever root for him,’ he said. ‘Root

for me then,’ she whispered. ‘Root for

me to find a love like that.’

  1. Lovely. I allowed a love to leave, believing that it was better for her to happy with him, than miserable and wondering with me. Sometimes love means letting go.

  6. Hmm… interesting. So was she still interested in the guy she was talking to or does she mean that he should support her in being happy & feeling like the only other soul?

I like the sentiment of the poem: the idea that someone can think of you as the only other person in the world. As a Romantic poem, it works well. But I think in real life, maybe it’s a bit unrealistic. Regardless of how much we love someone, there are other people that matter to us too. For example, our family. But yeah, I like the sentiment of the post & think it makes a good modern Romantic poem. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you. She might be interested in the guy she’s talking with but wants to see where it goes with the other man.

      • Oh, okay. That makes sense. She wants him to be fair and think of her happiness regardless of who she finds it with: if she does find the kind of love she’s looking for in the other man, then she wants him to respect that. If she finds the first man to be reflective of her ideal, then she wants him back. Interesting πŸ™‚

  8. I had done the same thing. sometimes it leaves the other person thinking that you don’t love them as much as you actually do… It’s one of the hardest things to do in the world is to let someone you truly love go. But they remain in our hearts forever. Everywhere we go we carry them around with us. Beautiful memories❀

  10. It kind of breaks my heart but still makes me feel hopeful, but for some reason less hopeful than heartbreaking. But then I suppose that’s because my mind is clouded with what’s going on in my personal life at the moment. Haha. I love it. I don’t know how you manage to flow words that touch hearts so easily! But keep doing whatever you do. πŸ™‚

  12. One of the keys to living a happy life clinks around somewhere in understanding and coming to terms with other people’s happiness; being happy for them, and knowing it’s okay that your happiness is something other than the held vision for it.

I love this because it holds this key out for me – and reminds me to not lose it.

  15. The love that’s true isn’t wanting to keep the other person with you forever, but in the willingness r to let go when s/he find someone else that makes her/him happy…
