I Pray

Written by Jacob Ibrag

Must have been hours since we first touched

the grass with our bare feet. It had just started

to rain, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her smile

like she did. She grabbed my hand and began to

dance, in that moment everything changed. With

closed eyes and arms stretched to the heavens, she

got on her tip toes and began to pray. It wasn’t a

prayer for her, not at all. She prayed to take away

all the pain and hurt from this world. I saw her tears

through natures shower. Her heart stole mine. Please,

have it. It had to be years since I last talked to you

God. I pray that you give me the chance to be one

of the reasons this girl smiles. I pray that her

tears will only be that of joy. I pray.
