Written by Jacob Ibrag
She’s angry with me, staring
into my eyes as if I’ve betrayed
hers. She wants me to move my
lips and give her a reason to
stagnate, a reason for her to stay
with we. Trying to remain silent,
I slip and whisper that it’s because
I love her that she can’t stay, that
she’s not the broken winged bird I
found in the rain. She thinks that I
changed her, that I made her better.
‘Couldn’t be farther from the truth.
All I did was recognize your heart.
My love, you were destined for so
much more. Break free. Soar.’

Beautiful.

Lovely poem. I particularly like the line “a reason for her to stay
with we” The “we” surprised me and emphasized your message. Very enjoyable read.

I understand this post from the view of the individual letting go; but then I think of the perspective of the individual being let go…who can decide what’s right for another? Hauntingly beautiful!!!

This is lovely. I recognise the ‘her’ in this. The wanting to be with, and the needing to let go. Thank you
