The Truth Is

Written by Jacob Ibrag

This ring is suppose to be everything.

Love that’ll last till death. Eternal bliss.

Yet there’s a pit forming in your insides.

Remembering his smile, you set the feeling

aside. Clenching your eyes shut, repressing

the tears. Useless. The truth is, you aren’t

his. You kiss his lips and think of the man

before him. The one that should’ve been.

You’re well versed in writing life’s sadness. Certainly makes me wonder if you’ve recently acquired some of your own. Suppose it’s only for the writer to know.
