Vent

Written by Jacob Ibrag

You asked me to trust you, to vent,

to share my streaming thoughts and memories.

The dimples in your smile took ownership of my

decision making abilities, so I did. I bared it all and

you inhaled me like I was a drug. Addicted, I’d warn

you to not overdose, to pace yourself. ‘Keep going,’

you insisted, wanted every bit of me or nothing. And

when I gave you every part of who I was, you bled

disappointment, ‘is that it?’ With that, you left with

my identity, leaving me a shell of who I used to be.

And for some reason, I wasn’t upset, no. I was

transformed, you took all the bad. No longer

stagnant, I was ready for something new.

Free from it all. Free from me, as if a veil

was lifted. You left me with this clarity.

No longer a recluse, thank you.

I have been trying to reply, but the words simply will not express how powerful this is. Superbly told…

Very powerful poem, really enjoyed it, and the last few lines took me in a direction I wasn’t expecting. Felt truly authentic, and beautifully expressed. There’s wisdom here 🙂 Harula x

Sometimes we need to be drawn out. This hits home for me. Great writing!

Deeply contemplative. Awesome thoughts. I’ll have to rethink some of my recent past now. Thank you for the possible catalyst.

It’s sad. but it’s my life story tootio. SOmething that was unattainable, Andy a challenge for him and he love challenges.. So he just kept on asking about me, every little small detail and if it Didn’t match his idea girl like I should be. He was disappointed. I tried in the starting thinking I wanted him to Be happy. BUt then I realise don’t it wasn’t my fault. It was all upon him. And don’t know yet how to back off. Beacuse before this relationship we were best friends. So I guess I will have to lose him. Can’t do right now though .. 😕😕
