Moments

Written by Jacob Ibrag

Grandpa went on about how things were a lot easier

it terms of choice when he was my age, that we have too much

of it today. It’s hard to commit to anything when options seem endless.

We’d start things and drop them the minute they’d get a bit tougher. On to

the next one type of mentality. Dating is cheapened by swiping left or right

on lifeless applications replacing the possibility of serendipity. ‘People used

to fall in love with each others voices,’ he’d try to explain. Sometimes I want

to dive into his mind to relive some of those ‘good all days.’ Reality is that

there’s no going back. Emoji’s are the new bouquet of flowers we send ‘just

because.’ ‘Your generation has it backwards, complication is the crux of it all.

Embrace the constant struggle between the mind and the heart. Nothing

will ever replace moments like the rain sheltering you and the girl you

just met while waiting for the train, sharing a tiny umbrella while

wrestling the knot in your throat to finally ask for her name.’

Love this. The truth of it is absolutely authentic. I hope the manners and traditions of “the good old days” resurface, just as the fashion and fads have.

I don’t think I ever thanked you for following my blog, so I will thank you now. I have not been working on my writing that much lately, so I have not been doing much reading either. I have always liked what I have read of yours very much. Very inspiring. I will have to catch up.
