Architect

Written by Jacob Ibrag

Stories so flawless or so she

preaches. She blows smoke and

we inhale it. It’s her world and we’re

the  static characters. Never changing,

mostly irrelevant. Fixed minds. Black and

white  imaginations. She’s the architect,

we’re the hallucinations. A collective

of blank pages that remain honest

till she presses her ink on us.

This poem is quite enjoyable. I am entertained by characters who have a life of their own. I am currently re-reading (for at least the third time!) a book about an author and his muse/character called Mantissa by John Fowles. Obviously I love the book but I think you would, too, Jacob. Love this playful poem.

Reminds me of the song lyrics that say, “She’s a man eater!”

The reasons why the characters come to life is because the writers made them come alive…
