Guitar

Written by Jacob Ibrag

‘Will I ever get to be good as you?’

The little boy watched as his dad strummed

the second generation guitar his father had left him.

‘I used to ask my father that all the time. He’d always say the

same thing, that he didn’t want me to play like him. It’s not about

being as good as anyone, it’s more about discovering the inner workings

of yourself. The music will take you as far as you let it sift into your

fingers.’ Handing the guitar to his son, he smiled as his

father once did.  ‘It’ll happen soon enough and

when it does, I can’t wait to be there.’

Now, I wanted to say that don’t want to seem rude and burdensome but I will love to be able to contribute to your site. I sent you an email or two regarding it but don’t know if you have read them. You may delete this comment if you want.

A beautiful poem that conveys an important message about children. It reminds me of a passage in “The Prophet,” by Kahlil Gibran. “Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself… You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.” The music of tomorrow interweaves the past, present, and future possibilities in wondrous, inventive, unique ways.

At the moment, a smile slow crosses your weathered face,
impressing, as once our own father had hopefully witnessed..

    Nicely written dear sir..

I wish more parents would say this to their kids and really mean it. ” It’s not about

being as good as anyone, it’s more about discovering the inner workings
