Behind

Written by Jacob Ibrag

He took her right hand and continued

walking through the military base. ‘We can get

in trouble. You promised the general that we’d stay put

for further instruction, so pleading ignorance would be out of

the question,’ she whispered. You’re getting off track, he thought, ‘I

also promised I’d find us some answers or do you not care about where

we came from and why we can’t remember past sixty eight days ago? What

good is having a name if doesn’t carry any memory?’ The base was desolate and

depressed with not vessel to fill it’s emptiness. ‘Explain this,’ he continued, ‘how is

it that we know our way around this place? We just got here three days ago, that

doesn’t make any sense. I think these people are hiding something from us.’

Releasing herself from his light grasp, she took a couple of steps towards

the old white door on their left, ‘there’s something inside this room,

waiting for us.’ Looking at her, he had no idea what she was

talking about, ‘alright, I’ll put the code in.’ Breathing a

little harder, she pushed him away, ‘not right

now. We need to leave, whatever it is

behind this door just woke

up the entire base.’
