Not Yet

Pack of cigarettes, still in its

plastic. Erecting a one inch blade out of

her fingertip, she cuts through the plastic and

discards the appendage. Text message. She grabs her

phone and reads the notification, ‘hw abt nw?’ Unlit drag

hanging on the edges of her lips. Smoking Area. She inhales

and the cigarette listens, catching fire and providing what

she demands. Pack crushed in the palm of her left hand,

she tosses it away and begins to type. ‘Not yet and

maybe not in this existence. She hasn’t made

up her mind, you’ll have to be patient.’
