Poetry

Foundation

Written by Jacob Ibrag

Caught in the crossfires

of conversation. Blame, a crown fit for

a soul willing to wear it. ‘I was trying to help.’ And

what if you made it worse? Some things need to fail, an

appetite to run its course. ‘You don’t need to trip, I know

which steps to avoid.’ I want to fall. I need to taste

the pavement. It’s how we learn about the

depths of our faulty foundation.

Over the years Eyes + Words has turned into a wonderful budding family of over fifteen thousand people across all platforms. It’s surreal and humbling to know that the art of poetry and story is alive and thriving. That being said, I hope that the creation of the Eyes + Words Writers Group serves as a vehicle and launch pad to help and support writers and the aspiring ones to keep manifesting words that many out there are searching for everyday. So go on and contribute, lets elevate together. Everyone is encouraged to share their experiences with anything involving writing.

Indeed, your verse shows that one doesn’t need to rely on elegies, epics, iambic octets, or wonder lonely as clouds among daffodils (which would be too obvious). My own inspirations are (inter alia), Orwell, Larkin, Sartre, Dostoyevsky etc… always look forward to ‘reading’ your verse.

It’s only right that people want to try out what has the potentials to burn them personally, because until they do, they will never know for sure, if it will burn or not.
