He cups his hands under the water and applies
it on his face and then hair. Waiting for the water
to stagnate, he looks closer into his reflection. From
time to time, he wondered whether or not there was
another him in an alternate universe that’s been to
the same places as he has and faced the same forks in
the road that he did. Perfect lives only exist in fairy
tales, and even then it can get a bit complicated.
Happy endings that made him linger for a punch in
the gut from reality. If another him did exist, he
hoped that the other guy had a little more confidence
to have a bit less regard for life’s rules and regulations.
He hoped that the other him wasted less time on
pondering choices and more time on executing
decisions. ‘Who am I kidding, the other guy would
probably be dead. No one should ever fully have their
way, what a truly twisted world this place would be.’

I have forgotten the rules for the Parallel Universe hypothesis though I believe you both need to be alive for one or the other to survive.
We are as we are, and will be as we will be and only we can change that with help from the I AM.

I love the photography, so poignant.
And I battle a lot with what you said in the last line , ” No one should ever fully have their way…”. When I am having a great year or things just seem to be going AMAZINGLY, I’m always wearily peeking around the corner going: Ok, where is the car that will mow me over and render me physically disabled or something like that.
Thanks for making me think.
