Real Her

Written by Jacob Ibrag

Sensing the rising sun upon her unwashed skin, she

slowly immersed herself into realities ocean as her dream

state peaked into expiration. Exposing her eyes to his bare

back, she smiled or at least tried to. He’s everything she’s

ever wanted, a comedian in a business man’s clothing. Her

job and this home were exactly what she’s ever desired,

especially after coming from a money ridden childhood.

Everything was in it’s right place, except the four chambers

in her chest that barely remained present. She found herself

reaching for the phone almost every morning, searching

for a name that used to make sense. Searching for a face

that she turned away from because she wanted perfect

and he was anything but that. Staring at those eyes

that figured her out while she’s barely scratched her

own surface. Wiping away emotion, before the

man in her bed caught the real her.

“Everything was in its right place, except the four chambers in her chest that barely remained present.” Love this line. Reminds me of Pearl Jam’s, Can’t find a better man…
