Finite

Written by Jacob Ibrag

When your last day sneaks behind

your back, will you greet it as an old

friend or an enemy? Will you drown in

a river of what if’s or reminisce on what

used to be? We are forever finite, forever

fooling ourselves otherwise. We share this

air if only for a moment, and sometimes

a moment is more than enough.

Hi Jacob, I really loved this one. Especially the imagery in the “last day sneaks behind your back” and “will you drown in a river of what ifs”. I thought it was beautifully written. Also, I got around to posting that assignment I was talking about with the quote and poem if you want to check it out and maybe try it sometime!

Beautiful! Such alliteration and juxtaposition in “forever finite.” This poem remind me of Bryant’s “Thanatopsis.”
