Success

Written by Jacob Ibrag

‘You’re not going to be a success.’

Echos form a choke hold around my neck,

trying to take me out and the dreams that I have.

They don’t understand, I’m fueled on their doubt and I

can taste it. Boundless supplies of energy running from

their lips to my will. Cloud eight. I brand their lines

of hate on the shoulders God gave me. I’ll rise

above their definitions, cloud nine is

ignorant towards ignorance.

  6. This reply of words speaketh of a rebelious child, that really speaks my past. One can truly say what parenting of old traditions that goes nowhere but hatred. What can one person do when parents do, we as children hate what they keep doing. Or can a child go beyond and be motivated and does credit that failure as a succes for his/her own life.

  12. Sounds like you were able to turn the doubts that others have of you, into something that drives you onward toward your dreams…

  14. Inspiring poem. Great attitude. My poems tend to be more pessimistic, hehe. But I guess they can act as catharsis. πŸ™‚

Nice to see that you’re not falling back due to the discouragement of others. That’s a great way to live. Helps you really explore your opportunities to the fullest. πŸ™‚

Thinking about the importance of chasing your dreams, I wrote a piece talking about why it’s necessary for us to chase our dreams now rather than later. Covered it from the point of view of poet Langston Hughes. Do give it a read. πŸ™‚
