He walked around his apartment and realized that it wasn’t

home anymore. He used to think that home was a place where

the outside world became irrelevant. The NYC noise would die

here and manifest space for thinking. Then the new girl across

the hall moved in and changed everything. She stole his attention

throughout the night as he wished to let go of her smile that made

a new home in his mind. Then the new girl across the hall became

the new girl at his job, ‘hey, you’re that guy one door down! We

should get a cup of coffee some time.’ And as a coffee date turned to

many, she went from the new girl at his job to the new girlfriend

that shared his sugar and salt. This place wasn’t his home anymore,

and when he watched her walk down the aisle, he understood why.

‘I’ve always been comfortably alone in my bubble till you popped

the illusion and challenged my life. You’re what I didn’t know

was missing, my true home and newlywed wife.
